Revlite from Cynosure is a new generation of Q-Switched laser featuring revolutionary technology that utilises nanosecond pulses to treat a range of skin issues with 60% more power. Cynosure is leader, innovator, developer, and best-in-class creators of energy-based aesthetic and medical treatment systems. As the medical aesthetic division of Hologic, Cynosure develops and manufactures a diverse range of leading treatment applications for hair removal, skin revitalisation, scar reduction, gynaecological health, body contouring, and more. Their innovative products are used worldwide by practitioners, physicians, and aesthetic business owners to help enhance their offerings while providing the latest treatments to patients.

Treatment with this laser creates outstanding results for those with pigmentation issues, such as dark spots and melasma, as well as acne scars and vascular lesions. Along with creating clearer complexions, this non-ablative laser is an effective method for skin resurfacing and boasts no downtime.

The Revlite system is designed to cause controlled damage to the skin, removing signs of ageing and sun damage while spurring the development of new collagen, resulting in firmer, more youthful skin in the treatment area.

It features an advanced PTP (PhotoAcoustic technology pulse) setting that safely and gently penetrates the skin to stimulate new collagen. The result is a smoother texture, smaller pores, and a reduction in wrinkles and acne scars. The unique PTP setting also provides extra power for effective treatment to eliminate brown spots and other pigment problems

Revlite produce a special wavelength of light that is absorbed by pigmented lesions. The light shatters the pigment, breaking the melanin into micro particles and lightening the lesion. You will notice the spot turning grey or white for a few minutes, a natural response of the skin as it absorbs the energy. The spot will turn darker and slough off completely within one to two weeks.
Revlite works well to remove brown age spots, freckles and other brown birth marks. A consultation is required to identify the type of lesion and to discuss the treatment for your condition. Melasma is a form of hyperpigmentation that’s more commonly seen in women (especially in those with darker skin type) . Melasma causes brown or tan patches on the face, due to an overproduction of melanin.  There are a number of triggers to melasma including pregnancy, birth control pills, and sun exposure. Hyperpigmentation, as well as melasma, can be exacerbated by treating the skin with the wrong laser therapy, or a laser which is not correct for your particular skin type.  In some cases, pigmentation can occur after laser resurfacing with Fraxel laser, IPL, ablative lasers, laser hair removal. This side effect, known as post-laser hyperpigmentation or post-inflammatory pigmentation (PIH) consists of dark patches or lesions, which can take a year or longer to resolve on its own, or be permanent without the proper treatment. The latter is what distinguishes it from traditional hyperpigmentation and makes it tougher to treat. When choosing to have laser hair removal, it is crucial to select a clinician who understands your skin type and the correct laser treatment to prevent any unwanted side effects, such as PIH. Unfortunately, in many states, laser treatments are not under regulations, and there are many spas and clinics which have untrained and unauthorised assistants doing laser hair removal.  Revlite laser from Cynosure is the only laser approved for the treatment of Melasma. It is important to do your research and google the best lasers and treatments for your skin type, before proceeding with any cosmetic treatment. The Revlite melasma laser treatment procedure works by the laser light breaking up the pigmentation in the dermis and epidermis. The extremely short pulse duration of the Revlite shatters the pigment into micro particles so that the pigment can be removed.
